The engagement process, alongside our site analysis, identified a number of key concepts including ecology, access to nature and a family style of learning (or Reggio Emilia). The metropolitan open land seriously constrained the available build area which was further exacerbated by the mature trees which required the protection of large root systems. The design response created an organic building form that weaves around the existing mature trees, retaining as many as possible. This building amongst the tree canopy concept is further enhanced by the material choice, with the timber cladding and rustic style brick enhancing this organic and natural feel.
