John Wallis Academy Awarded High Commendation

The John Wallis C of E Academy has been awarded a High Commendation by Ashford Borough Council in the category of 'Contributions to the Community'.

The very best examples of building design and place-making were shortlisted for their high quality and the positive contribution they make to the local environment.

John Wallis consisted of a new General Teaching wing and a new Theatre Block alongside extensive refurbishment of the existing buildings.

The awards were attended by shortlisted entrants and the Leader of Ashford Borough Council, Cllr Gerry Clarkson; the Planning Committee Chair, Cllr Mick Burgess; Chief Executive, Tracey Kerly; and the Mayor of Ashford, Cllr George Koowaree, who handed out the awards.

Cllr Mike Bennett said: “By officially recognising the very best in design and architecture at a local level the council is helping to build a reputation for high standards in the borough and inspiring others to come up with bold and innovative plans.

“Making quality buildings and fine places means a lot to the council so it was particularly pleasing to celebrate the achievements of those who architects and developers who were shortlisted. Quality is the key in all our thinking as we develop an exciting borough for future generations.”

Heathfield Academy selected finalist for Constructing Excellence

We are delighted to announce that our Heathfield Academy project has been selected as a finalist for the Constructing Excellence Awards 2018 - Project of the Year (under £10m). Heathfield Academy was part of a batch of Croydon based schemes and is part of the Step Academy Trust. The academy caters for 420 pupils and also children with special educational needs. Constructing Excellence said - "The project stands out for many reasons but none more than the culture - the project produced a truly collaborative programme." Congratulations to all the project team!
